Sometimes visiting a new church can be a little awkward...
you don't know anyone, you're not sure where anything is
located, what time the service starts...where to park...
what to do with the children...
Well, we want you to feel welcome at First Baptist Church of Lakeside
from the moment you arrive...so here are some answers to questions
you may have about us.
Whether you're seeking God or looking for a local church that is proud
to preach the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ and study
His inerrant, perfect Word...you've come to the right place!

What time do you meet?
Bible study classes for all ages begin at 9:30 on Sunday mornings and 5:15 on Sunday evenings. We have greeters at each entrance of our building that will be happy to help you find a class that's right for you.
Worship services led by Jim McGinlay, Pastor are at 10:45AM and 6:30 PM.
We also have an informal Bible Study on Wednesday night beginning at 6:15. We serve dinner (catered by Vance Godbey's, $5 per person) at 5:30, but if you've never joined us...the first meal is on us! The food is very good, and the fellowship and preaching is even better...feel free to call our church office for more information. Click here for complete schedule.
What do you believe?
"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11
We are a body of believers who hold fast to the truth that our Lord is totally adequate and relevant for the day in which we live; that He is the answer to every question, the solution to every problem.
We seek to honor Him from the crib to the nursing home, and our programs are designed to reach people for Christ, and then to grow them in Christ.
We believe in praise and worship, for He alone is worthy of both. He came the first time--that is a matter of history. He is coming the second time, that is a matter of prophecy!
Eternal salvation comes only through belief in and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God who died for our sins.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Is there a class for new members or guests?
Our Associate Pastor, Larry Shuler, teaches an ongoing 5-week class about our church, Baptist Beliefs and more to help you get aquainted with us. It's also a great refresher course if you haven't been in Sunday School recently or come to us from another denomination. This class meets every Sunday at 9:45 in the Church Library.
Where are you located?
First Baptist Church of Lakeside is located in northwest Fort Worth between Lake Worth and Azle at the corner of Jacksboro Hwy. (199) & FM 1886 (Confederate Park Rd.).
We are about a mile northwest of the Lake Worth bridge, between Vance Godbey's restaurant and a Chevron gas station/convenience store. Our parking lot may be accessed from either the Jacksboro Hwy/S .H. 199 feeder road or F.M. 1886.

Where do I park?
Plenty of parking is available within a short walk of our building, but visitors are encouraged to park in specially-designated "guest" spaces --they're located close-in...just a few steps from the entrances of our building! You may enter our parking lots from either the eastbound S.H. 199 feeder road or F.M. 1886 (Glory Rd. leads into our parking lot).
Or, feel free to ride our covered shuttle (left) from any point in our parking lot, which runs before and after each service. It's the best way to go on a rainy or cold day. Just turn on your flashers and you'll quickly be picked up at your car and dropped off at our sanctuary entrance.
How do I join your church?
Upon presenting yourself to the staff during the invitation time, you may request to join with our fellowship in one of the following ways.
1. By Baptism To join by baptism you must profess your faith in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Saviour. Upon completion of your New Members classes*, you will be baptized and then be voted into our fellowship.
2. By Letter To join by letter, you must currently be a member of another Baptist church or one of like faith. We will write that church and request a letter of recommendation. To join in this manner, you must have professed faith in Jesus Christ and been scriptually baptized. Upon receipt of this letter and completion of your New Members classes*, you will be voted into our fellowship.
3. By Statement If you have already made a public profession of faith in Christ and experienced New Testament baptism, but for some reason do not believe we can secure a letter of recommendation, you may share that with the Pastor and he can ask the church to receive you "by statement." Upon completion of your New Members classes*, you will be voted into our fellowship.
*New Members Classes are held during the Sunday School hour or as arranged
Do you offer child care during services?
You can rest assured your children will be well taken care of while you worship. We offer secure, age-graded child care for children through kindergarten during our Sunday morning worship, and for up through three years old on Sunday evenings.
Our church runs background checks on all workers and volunteers in our Pre-K and Childrens department and programs. Plus, children and parents are given wristbands that must be 'matched up' before leaving our facilities...so you'll know your kids are always in caring hands.
What sort of classes/activities do you offer?
First Baptist Church of Lakeside gives you opportunities to serve God and fellowship with other Christians in many ways. Here's just a few...

Our junior high and high school students participate in regularly scheduled Bible Study, have parties and events after Friday night football games, go on weekend retreats, field trips, summer camp, choir events, outings to ballgames and much more.
For college students and young adults, we've got a very active ministry designed to serve you as well. Join us for Bible Study, social events and more.
