 Membership Class

"Should we join this church?" "Is this where the Lord is leading us to invest our time, our lives?" "Do these people see the Bible the way we do?" "I wonder where they stand on some of the important issues of our faith." "I wonder how decisions are made here."
If you are looking for a church home I am sure you have a lot of questions. I would recommend that you seriously pray for the Lord’s leadership. Also I would recommend that you find out all you can about the church you are considering.
We invite you to attend a 5 session course designed to help you to get to know First Baptist Church of Lakeside. These classes are informal. You will never be put on the spot in any way.  You will not be asked to pray or to answer questions where you would be addressing the others in the class . On the other hand you are welcomed to ask any and all questions that you have. Classes meet each Sunday morning at 9:45 in the church library. Each session was prepared totally independent of the others so you can start on any Sunday.
 Session Titles:
 1. What Does It Mean to be a Church Member?
 2. The Church Covenant
 3. Who Runs the Church? and  But Why Southern Baptist?
 4. What We Believe
 5. Are We Allowed to Talk About Money? (This is not a fund raiser or commitment time. You learn how financial decisions are made and what safeguards are in place to make sure your donations are spent as they should be.)

So if you want to know about First Baptist Church of Lakeside please join us in the New Members Class.

How to Join our Church
Upon presenting yourself to the staff during the invitation time, you may request to join with our fellowship in one of the following ways.
1. By Baptism To join by baptism you must profess your faith in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior. Upon completion of your New Members classes, you will be baptized and then be voted into our fellowship.
2. By Letter To join by letter, you must currently be a member of another church of like faith. We will write that church and request a letter of recommendation. To join in this manner, you must have professed faith in Jesus Christ and been baptized. Upon receipt of this letter and completion of your New Members classes, you will be voted into our fellowship.
3. By Statement If you have already made a public profession of faith in Christ and experienced New Testament baptism, but for some reason do not believe we can secure a letter of recommendation, you may share that with the pastor and he can ask the church to receive you "by statement." Upon completion of your New Members classes, you will be voted into our fellowship.
